1957 Topps Football Set Guide: Key Cards, Rookies, and Checklist
Set Description
The 1957 Topps set was the coming out party for Topps football. The 1955 Topps set featured all legends of the game, but not current players, and 1956 Topps lacked star and rookie power. But 1957 Topps has become the most popular football set of the 1950s. There are multiple reasons as to why this is, but the major factor is the rookie power it contains. This set contains rookies of top tier Hall of Famers Bart Starr, Johnny Unitas, and Paul Hornung. In all, there are a total of 31 Hall of Fame cards in the set of 154 cards. The design on the front showcases a close up portrait of each player on half the card, and an action pose on the other half. Every card in the set is horizontal. The back has a short biography and features a cartoon about the player's career. High grade cards command a significant premium, as centering and surface scuffing/frosting is common.
